Before You Get Botox!

The purpose of this site is to inform you, the consumer, of all your options, before you spend the money to have botox injections. I have been getting botox since 2002 and have experienced a variety of doctors, opinions, injection sites and therefore of course, RESULTS! My hope is that others will be able to take this information and make a more informed choice about where to receive Botox injections.

Botox Reviews describes the areas botox can be administered, the amount typically used at each site, the various types of pricing, things that can go wrong (including the small percentage of people who don’t respond to botox) and reviews of doctors/med spas/nurses who administer Botox. Our review section is ever expanding and we encourage those Botox veteran’s to register and review/ rate their previous experiences so newbies and veterans who haven’t found their perfect botox doctor yet, will easier be able to locate the appropriate doctor in their area.

All About Botox Injections

Botox can dramatically soften facial expression lines, frown lines and crow’s feet in both men and women without surgery, scars and recovery time. When we frown, smile or laugh we contract our face into folds of skin that form dynamic wrinkles and lines such as “crows feet”, forehead lines or “worry lines”. Over time, these wrinkles and lines become deeper and more permanent.

Facial expressions occur when the brain sends a signal to muscle tissue. Botox blocks impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles that are related to expression lines. This relaxes, or puts the muscle into “hibernation” for around 3 – 4 months leaving the overlying skin looking smooth and less wrinkled.

Botox works only on the specific muscles injected leaving surrounding muscles to function as usual, so that your face is not expressionless. Botox is injected, using a disposable syringe, into the muscles that cause the skin to crease and furrow. Because a very fine needle is used, most clients find that there is only mild and temporary discomfort. The entire procedure usually takes no longer than a few minutes.

Botox is a neurotoxin [neuro means nerve; toxin means poison] that temporarily paralyzes muscles in your face.Botox is derived from the same botulin toxin that is found in spoiled foods. Doctors use a sterile and purified form of this toxin when administering Botox injections. The effects are not permanent. Over time, the body gradually absorbs the substance and the procedure must be repeated every 3-6 months. Botox is administered only for wrinkles and does not reduce other age-related symptoms such as age spots and facial discoloration.

WHERE CAN I HAVE BOTOX INJECTED?

Botox can be injected into the muscles above the eyebrows to soften the Glabellar lines above the nose and between the eyebrows that cause the frowning/angry look. Another popular area is the crow’s feet, one of the first places one might see wrinkles. Many individuals have also experienced headache and migraine relief as a result of using Botox.

Botox can also be used as part of a “nonsurgical nose job” to relax the muscle that pulls the tip downward, creating a more upturned appearance, or to soften the “bunny lines” on the sides near the top of the nose.

Two months after skillful injection of Botox® into the jaw muscles can considerably reduce muscle mass, producing a more feminine, oval shape to the face.
